In a Chicago suburb, an 18th century reliquary was stolen last Thursday. Here is the pertinent article:

LISLE, Ill. – Police in the western Chicago suburb of Lisle say an 18th-century brass reliquary valued at around $10,000 has been stolen from a church there.

Police said Thursday the reliquary, which came from France, was reported missing Aug. 30 from St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church.

A reliquary traditionally contains the physical remains of saints, such as bones, teeth or pieces of clothing.

Lisle Police Sgt. Randall Johnson said he did not believe the stolen reliquary held any venerated remains.

Johnson said there were no signs of forced entry at the church and police have no suspects in the theft.

Please pray that this reliquary may be returned to its rightful owners and for the conversion of the thieves.

St. Anthony, pray for us!
