Speaking of St. Teresa of Avila and Spain, the following article was published this morning in the Daily Telegraph.

The article speaks about the efforts of the Basque Bishops in asking for an apology from Spain for the crimes committed against clergy and religious who were martyred during the Spanish Civil War under General Francisco Franco.

As the persons quoted in the article rightfully point out, the Catholic Church has recognized as martyrs those who were brutally murdered by the Republicans and their supporters during the war. However, little recognition has been shown to those who were martyred by Franco himself.

One wonders what will come of this.

Our Lady of the Angels, pray for us!
